With a remarkable increase in the quantity and quality of cars on display, the event celebrated the passion and artistry of building and enjoying kaido racers. Notably, attendees were thrilled to witness Jon from Moonlight Runners bring their Butame all the way up from SoCal, marking the first time it had ever left the state of California.
Kaido racers, originating in Japan, have been rapidly gaining popularity in North America. The kaido racer culture encompasses a unique blend of stylized vintage cars, inspired by many Japanese subcultures. These striking machines often boast bold modifications, wild body kits, and extravagant paintwork, reflecting a spirit of rebellion and creativity. The growth in popularity as well as knowledge of what it takes to build a kaido racer was clear, as the event showcased a substantially larger number of participants compared to previous years. One of the highlights of the PNW Summer Touring 2023 was Jon from Moonlight Runners, who made the courageous decision to transport their beloved Butame from Southern California.
