The Pacific Northwest (PNW) Summer Touring 2023, hosted by Rudeboy Custom in Vancouver, BC, proved to be a breathtaking event dedicated to showcasing the allure of kaido racers on North American soil. Drawing enthusiasts from across the continent, and even overseas, this year’s tour marked the second summer gathering and the fourth event overall. With a remarkable increase in the quantity and quality of cars on display, the event celebrated the passion and artistry of building and enjoying kaido racers. Notably, attendees were thrilled to witness Jon from Moonlight Runners bring their Butame all the way up from SoCal, marking the first time it had ever left the state of California.

Kaido racers, originating in Japan, have been rapidly gaining popularity in North America. The kaido racer culture encompasses a unique blend of stylized vintage cars, inspired by many Japanese subcultures. These striking machines often boast bold modifications, wild body kits, and extravagant paintwork, reflecting a spirit of rebellion and creativity. With a growing number of kaido racer enthusiasts in the region, Rudeboy Custom took the initiative to begin hosting these touring events in January 2021, creating a twice-a-year event that brings together admirers of this daring automotive trend.

The PNW Summer Touring 2023 witnessed a remarkable turnout, attracting participants from various states and even from overseas. Enthusiasts from California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington gathered to celebrate their shared passion for kaido racers. Moreover, the event transcended international boundaries as it welcomed attendees from as far as London, England, showcasing the global appeal of this niche automotive culture.

The success of this year’s tour was evident in both the quantity and quality of cars in attendance. The growth in popularity as well as knowledge of what it takes to build a kaido racer was clear, as the event showcased a substantially larger number of participants compared to previous years. The diversity of styles and designs on display was awe-inspiring, capturing the essence of the kaido racer movement. Participants took pride in presenting their vehicles, which featured an array of daring modifications and eye-catching aesthetics. From custom body kits to unique paint jobs, attendees spared no effort in making their vehicles stand out.

One of the highlights of the PNW Summer Touring 2023 was Jon from Moonlight Runners, who made the courageous decision to transport their beloved Butame from Southern California. It was the first time the vehicle had ventured beyond the state’s borders, a testament to the event’s significance and excitement. This milestone illustrated how the tour’s reputation had grown, attracting participants from distant locations who were eager to share their passion and be a part of the community.
