We Got A New Shop!

We Got A New Shop!

This past August felt like the busiest month of our lives and also one of the most rewarding. For the last two years, we worked out of a shared space with a friend who was building a successful business. As both of our projects grew, it became obvious we were outgrowing the room. Then, out of the blue, a new shop popped up on the market. It was three times the size, much cleaner, much emptier, and a lot more private. We jumped on it ASAP with our friend Sam and a handful of his car friends, and made the move.

August was peak chaos in a good way. We moved the whole shop, hosted Pop-Up Shop 5, and turned Karly’s Laurel from idea to finished car in just 11 days. We also got Dylan’s Supra through inspection, prepped it for the Pop-Up, fixed its paint, and got it to the Langley Good Times Cruise In for Lordco. We promise that we have a Supra update video coming very soon. Not to mention, in the middle of it all, Jake and Karly got married, which made the month feel even more full of life.

When September finally arrived, our calendars calmed down enough to breathe. We spent the quieter evenings dialing in the new space, tightening layout, storage, and the little details that make a shop work. To celebrate we hosted a shop BBQ with friends, had some beer, grilled some meat and enjoyed the first real night in a place that finally feels like ours.

At Checkpoint, it is extremely important that every space we occupy is curated, aesthetically pleasing, and inspiring. That is one of the key elements of our brand. The new shop gives us the blank canvas to do that properly. Clean floors, thoughtful lighting, and the right amount of negative space are not luxuries for us. They are the tools we use to create work that looks and feels intentional.

Huge thanks to Sam, our friends who helped with the move, everyone who came to Pop-Up Shop 5, and to Jake and Karly for giving us a reason to celebrate mid-month. The jump to this new shop marks the start of a chapter where we can do better work, host better events, and keep building a place that inspires everyone who walks in.
